AN EGYPT MEDAL AND KHEDIVES STAR TO THE SCOTS GUARDS.
An Egypt Medal with dated reverse and Tel-El-Kebir clasp named to 4378 Pte C Rippley 1/Scots Gds, and a Khedive's Star unnamed as issued. Christopher Rippley, a bricklayer from Leeds, joined the Scots Guards on the 8th April, he transferred to the reserve on the 4th May 1884. During his six years service he fought with the Scots Guards at Tel-El-Kebir, this was the decisive battle of this short lived campaign with the Scots Guards charging in support of the Highland Brigade and 2nd Brigade. The attack was a brief affair lasting about an hour resulting in over 2000 Egyptian casualties and 57 British.
