FOLLETT (Lieutenant (later Major, then Lieut-Colonel) ROBERT SPENCER): a photographic record of service in the Rifle Brigade and later, 1901-26, contained in 4 folio albums of period. An interesting and extensive record of his service from first posting to South Africa during Boer War through to service in the Mediterranean, first World War, India, training in Ireland, hundreds of posed and candid photographs together with some news cuttings and printed ephemera: present in Belfast during the 1907 riots, his summons to appear before the Ulster Winter Assizes for the Trial of Rioters included: serving in 82nd Infantry Brigade during WWI, his period of service documented with newspaper clippings and letters, by 1916 promoted to Major, mentioned in dispatches at least 3 times for gallant and distinguished service (certificate included), receiving a DSO (certificate included): visit to battlegrounds of Crimea with views of Nightingale Hospital, posting to India, holidays in Switzerland, final correspondence from 1939/40 showing him attempting to apply for command due to hostilities with Germany and rejection on health grounds: albums of contemporary half leather, 3 with spines deficient and one with text block split, folio.
