MATSUBARA SAKU, KAKEJIKU, LATE 19TH CENTURY

in ink and colour on silk, depicting a scene from the Battle of Kikuchi, one of the serial wars to subdue the Kamakura Shogunate led by the Godaigo Emperor, or the Kikuchi and Aso clans, from the imperial loyalist attacking the Hojyo Hidetoki from the Kamakura Shogunate in Kyushu, signed Hanji jyo rokui dou rokuto Fujiwara Ason saka kinsha with seal Matsubara Saku, with tomobako inscribed and titled by his pupil, Masayoshi. 49.5cm by 135cm
