Provenance: It has been with the same family since 1937, purchased from an antique dealer called S Whittaker, Macclesfield, restored, cleaned and re-stretchered in 1937 and cleaned again in 1954
In my opinion this is a late 19th century copy, repair to cheek of youg gentleman looking at his cards, other repairs, canvas very tight, and a little flat,
we have no further provenance pre 1937.
