1963 PORSCHE 901 BROCHURE
A very rare November 1963 sales brochure (number W221).
In September 1963 Porsche launched its successor to the Porsche 356, the 901.
The 901 was presented in October at the 1964 Paris Auto Salon. French car maker Peugeot immediately objected to Porsche using any three digit number where the middle number was 0, claiming rights to key markets
The solution was to replace the middle 0 with a 1, and called the car Porsche 911. Officially the 82 chassis were used for testing only, however several have since made it to private ownership.
