This photo album contains exceptionally rare images of the notorious Huanggutun Incident, also known as the Zhang Zuolin Explosion Death Incident. This event refers to the assassination of Zhang Zuolin, the Fengtian warlord and Generalissimo of the Military Government of China, near Shenyang on June 4, 1928. The assassination was carried out by a faction of the Japanese Imperial Army, targeting Zhang Zuolinœ– (1873-1928), the Manchu warlord and then ruler of the self-proclaimed Republic of China (1927-1928).
