Lilie Langtry (1853-1929) 'The Jersey Lily'. A late Victorian cream silk embroidered shawl formerly belonging to Lillie Langtry with floral embroidered decoration and tassel fringe. Note - Emille Charlotte Le Breton (Lillie Langtry) was born in St. Saviour Jersey in 1853. Upon marrying she moved to London in 1876 and became a darling of British Social society, being painted by many Aesthetic movement artists, she became the poster girl for Pear's Soap. In 1881 she made her debut on stage in 'She Stoops to Conquer' and continued a successful stage career.
