BRYNMAWR FURNITURE - OAK DISPLAY CABINET. An oak display cabinet with a glazed top section with a single shelf, with a large two door cupboard with a single shelf, with interesting shaped handles. Unmarked, 148.5cms high, 93cms across *Brynmawr Furniture Makers Ltd was a furniture manufacturing company set up in the midst of the Great Depression in the United Kingdom as part of the Brynmawr Experiment in Brynmawr, Wales. Following the General Strike in 1926, Brynmawr had been particularly badly affected and was left with high levels of unemployment. Brynmawr Furniture Makers factory was set up as part of Quaker-led effort to tackle the issues starting in 1929. It was known for well-made utilitarian designs but closed in 1940.
