After John J Audubon (American, 1785-1851),
Four large ornithological studies comprising: "Yellow Bird or American Goldfinch", "Rose Breasted Grosbeak", "Blue Winged Yellow Warbler" and "Painted Bunting",
Facsimile prints on paper from Audubon's BIRDS OF AMERICA, originally engraved, printed and coloured by R. Havell & Son, this edition published by The Ariel Press, London 1972
In matching glazed frames,
"The Goldfinch" 101.5cm x 76cm overall, the others 104.5cm x 71cm overall (4) (frames at fault)

More Information

All four prints are framed under glass and have not been removed for inspection. All show reasonably clean and bright colours, although these will have faded somewhat over time. The Goldfinch, Grosbeak and Bunting prints all show reasonably even darkening of the paper, the Grosbeak and the Bunting being the darkest. The Yellow Warbler shows more patchy darkening, with pale areas along the top edge and a pale stripe to the upper left quadrant of the image.
