Mosely & Co., Sheffield, with GVR monogram and W E Cuming, brass hilt and shagreen grip, scabbard lacking leather cover, an oil on canvas of Cuming, in uniform, 37 x 28cm, Victory Medal, to 2.Liuet W.E. Cumin, ebonised framed death penny with scroll, Temp. 2nd Lt William Edward Cuming, Connaught Rangers, appointment to officer status dated 13th May 1915, three Belgium trench maps, dated 1.4.17, 30.6.17, 14.8.17 in the Ypres area, his 9ct gold signet ring, Birmingham 1912, 3.4gm, a newspaper cutting and a Google search of the Cuming family tree.
Cuming joined the Leicestershire Royal Horse Artillery as a gunner in 1914, appointed temp 2nd Lt. in May 1915, transferred to Lincolnshire Regiment and then in September 1916 to the 5th Batt Connaught Rangers, attached to the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, served in the Balkans and Egypt, married Lilian Rayner in 1915.
KIA on the 31st July 1917, at Pilckem Ridge, on the first day of Passchendaele.
