The canvas has been relined. A scratch to the centre left. Paint loss to centre right edge. Inspection under UV light reveals. Creases above the sitter's eye, and to the left of the hairline. Inspection under UV reveals retouching to the face, notably approx. 3 cm wide patched area to the centre of the sitter' forehead. Small areas to the sitter's eyes nostril, and ,mouth. Extensive retouching to the background which is also visible to the naked eye. To conclude, scattered retouching on the man's jacket, as well as a green varnish unevenly applied across the whole surface.
