An early 20th Century Doulton Lambeth stoneware motto jug decorated to the body with the motto 'He that buys land buys stones, he that buys flesh buys bones, he that buys eggs buys many shells, he that buys good ale buys nothing else', each circular motto with a raised portrait roundel with a petal frame, impressed mark, height 21cm, S/D.
The handle has old hairlines to the neck and the body joints.
