PRESS PHOTOGRAPHY, WORLD WAR TWO INTEREST. The Munich Agreement - Neville Chamberlain's attempt to avoid war. Twenty-six black and white photographs, by Central Press LTD, World Wide Photos and other similar agencies, circa September 1938, measuring approximately 15cm x 20cm up to 30.5cm x 25cm Subjects include: • Chamberlain, Lord Halifax and Herbert von Dirksen (German Ambassador) at Heston Airport prior to their department. • Chamberlain broadcasting from Heston airport after arriving back from visiting Hitler (16th Sept). • Hitler, Chamberlain and their translator leaving the conference room at the Dreesen Hotel, Godesberg. • Chamberlain signing the agreement. • Chamberlain acknowledges the crowds outside Downing Street after his return from Germany. • Chamberlain bids the crowds farewell • Chamberlain jokes with Mussolini. • 'Four-Power Agreement signed this morning'—crowds cheer and wave flags as Chamberlain drives through the streets of Munich. Mussolini driving with Rudolf Hess to the Fuehrerhaus in Munich. and others. (approx 26)
