Norwegian Silver 830s Soup Tureen: 1244g (40oz) This soup tureen is an example of a well-known, elegant type of server. The entire surface is covered with repoussé birds and acanthus designs. Cast birds’ heads form its handles, and it stands on claw and ball feet. Four knobs extend upward from the lid, indicating that the lid can be inverted for use as a serving plate.

This soup tureen was made by J. Frisenberg, a goldsmith in Lillehammer, Norway, in 1937. It is a reproduction of a silver tureen in Maihaugen Museum in Lillehammer, Norway. The original was made by Hans Olufsen who was active in Drammen and Larvik from 1694 to 1700.
