Poyais Fraud - a Poyaisian £100 Poyais Loan bond, a fraudulent bond issue with dividend coupons in two columns, c.1823, signed by William Richardson, issued for a totally bogus enterprise by the Scottish adventurer Gregor MacGregor, the self declared Crown Prince of Poyais, for which he obtained a land grant in 1820 for what is now part of Honduras and Nicaragua, 19½ x 13½in. (49.5 x 34.25cm.), framed; together with a Poyaisian Land Grant for 300 Acres, signed by Gregor MacGregor and others, dated April 28th 1834, unframed. (2) * - Bond: Small holes to corners of the folds, some fox marks to folds, modern silvered frame.
