More Information

The paint surface shows fin craquelure throughout, and some small blemishes in various areas. The left hand edge of the picture shows various paint losses resulting from the loss of the left hand beading strip, which may have been glued in place at some point. Examination under UV shows evidence of repainting to small black areas in the lower part of the picture, however there is an area of brown paint in the lower right part of the picture which looks likely to be restoration, although it did not fluoresce. The frame appears to be structurally sound, but shows losses to the gilt finish throughout, and the odd loss to the moulded details of the corners.
