A FINE MATCHING PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY IRISH MAHOGANY HALL CHAIRS, with carved scroll motif to the back and curled crest rail, a solid seat then raised on turned carved front legs and sabre back. More About Hall Chairs: The hall chair was first introduced into homes in the 18th century, popular in large houses they were used in the entrance hall for waiting visitors. They were often decorated with the family’s crest of arms and the wealthier the household the more decorative the hall chair became. They continue to prove very popular with collectors & interior designers alike as they were built to last and add a wonderful decorative element to the entrance or hall way. 84 x 43 x 40 (H x W x D) height to seat 43cm.
