A COLLECTION OF SUGAR TONGS: Various dates from mid-19th century right up to 1920. (i) Engraved to the curve with initials MC, hallmarked with a lion, kings head & letter ‘R’. Possibly 1812. Maker’s mark I.L. 15cm long. (ii) Script initials engraved to the curve, with hallmarks of a lion, kings head and date letter ‘K’, maker’s mark rubbed, 14cm long. (iii) London silver sugar tongs, hallmarked with lion, kings head, and date letter of ‘g’ for 1822, maker’s mark SW or WS. 14cm long. (iv) Engraved to the curve with initials A, O and AGI, hallmarked with lion, kings head and letter ‘H’, the maker’s mark is present but rubbed. 14.5cm long, (v) A Sheffield sterling silver tongs, with maker’s mark of James Dixon & Sons Ltd. Length: 11.5cm, (vi) Sheffield small sugar tongs by Richard Richardson, date letter for 1920. (6)
