Three portrait miniatures on ivory, early 19th century, in the manner of Jacques Louis David, depicting Napoleon flanked by Prince Murat and Marechal Ney, each signed 'David' and dated 1810, set to cast brass oval frames with scrolling acanthus leaf motif, Napoleon surmounted by a crown, the others by bows, each with name plaque, all mounted on an ebonised back plate set to a matching brass frame, 24cm x 42cm

More Information

The piece appears to be in good overall condition with minimal fading to the painted surface. All three ivory panels appear to have a slight curve to them. The Napoleon name plaque has lost the black infill to the engraved name (present on the other two plaques). The oval frame on the Napoleon picture appears to have a moulding line across the left hand edge. The ebonised backplate shows some wear and would benefit from cleaning. The hanging chain is not original to the piece.

Trevanion & Dean does not ship items containing ivory outside the EU. Trevanion & Dean recommends that buyers check with their own government regarding any importation requirements prior to placing a bid. A buyer's inability to import these lots cannot justify a delay in payment or sale cancellation.
