A FINE VICTORIAN ORDER GROUP OF SIX TO THE ROYAL NAVY. A group of six comprising The Royal Victorian Order, China Medal 1900 without clasp named to D.R. Gordon PO 1 Cl H.M.S Goliath, 1914-15 Star named to 1 Gnr D.R. Gordon R.N. War Medal and Victory Medal to Gordon as Chief Gunner, and Coronation Medal 1911. Mounted Court style for display. David Russell Gordon was born on the 6th November 1873 in Darlington County Durham. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy on the 6th November 1891 at the age of 18. He served for 31 years rising from Boy 2nd Class to Lieutenant spending much of his career at Osborne College training cadets. The strength of his career was recognized on retirement with the award of the Royal Victorian Order fifth class, this was published in the Gazette on the 1st January 1923. Mounted for display with copied research.
