A terracotta olive oil jar of large proportions, of baluster form with three loop handles and typical ochre glaze, 51cm high, with a smaller twin handled example, 22cm high, and a slipware butter dish and cover (3)

More Information

Large jar: shows chips and nibbles to the rim including three areas of glazing loss, the largest 10cm long. The body shows four flaked losses to the terracotta, the largest approximately 5.5cm long. The unglazed body shows expected staining and discolouration. Maximum diameter approximately 44cm.

Small jar: shows extensive glazing losses to the rim, with further glazing losses to the shoulders and handles. The body shows numerous pitted losses with chips and nibbles to the foot rim. Maximum diameter approximately 25cm.
