Edmund Ironside (William, 1880-1959, Field Marshal, former Governor of Gibraltar). An original pencil caricature of William Edmund Ironside (initialed J. H., age 13), signed beneath 'Edmund Ironside, General, Governor of Gibraltar, 17/6/39', sheet size 15cm x 25cm approx., This was drawn by James Hodson when he was a young teenager in the late 1930s. He would draw various caricatures of celebrities and politicians, then send them in the hope of getting the subject to sign and return the caricature. He was obviously a very talented young artist which many celebrities of the day were happy to oblige his request of a signature.
