Thomas Harris senior is noted as working as an optician, mathematical instrument and globe maker from 1790; and his son from 1802. Both makers are listed as worked from 140 Fleet Street, London in 1804, and then Thomas junior alone at Hyde Street, Bloomsbury in 1808 - having most likely inherited the business from his father who died in 1806. Thomas Harris junior served as a Sargeant in the Bloomsbury Volunteers and died in an unfortunate fire at Covent Garden Theatre in 1808.
