Henry Grant (British, 1846-1932) After Lemuel Francis Abbott (British, c.1760-1803), Portrait of Captain G H Towry RNInscribed verso, oil on canvas, 75cm x 62cmCaptain George Henry Towry was a Royal Naval Office who commanded HMS Dido during the French Revoluationary Wars and later HMS Diadem at the Battle of Cape St Vincent. He subsequently commanded two further ships HMS Uranie and HMS Cambrian before peace was made in 1802. Upon the outbreak of the Napoleonic wars he was given command of HMS Tribune.
