A Louis XV Revival gilt-metal and porcelain-mounted mantel clock, 9cm white enamel dial inscribed with Roman numerals, twin-winding holes, fourteen-day movement striking on a bell, the whole surmounted by Cupid and a fellow putto, the scantily clad god holds his allegorical bow and arrow, arched oversailing top with spiked finials, crested by a grotesque mask and trailing garlands, the centre with two rose Pompadour decorated after Sèvres, acanthus-capped scrolling pilasters each surmounted by a dove, the break front rectangular base with wrythen and scroll friezes, central spray of foliage, foliate bosses to sides, bun feet, shaped giltwood base, 42cm high, 32cm wide, c. 1870
