Star Lot - A beautiful solid bronze sculpture possibly after Irish artist John Behan (1938-). Depicting a stylised female figure in motion and heavily patinaed with verdigris. H48cm.
Behan was born in Dublin in 1938 and studied at NCAD before also completing courses in Ealing Art College, London and Oslo's Royal Academy School. He is a member of the AosDána. Behan was commissioned to create the National Famine Memorial in Co. Mayo and The Mariner in Dublin city's North Wall. Examples of his work in a similar size and workmanship have sold at Whyte's for €4,800.
