India General Service medal 1854, 1 clasp Persia (Ensign E.M. Woodcock 2nd Bombay European L.I). Good Very Fine to Near Extremely Fine and nicely toned; accompanied by miniature bearing a 2 prong brooch bar, the reverse marked Han & Hayes, Very Fine (Indian Mutiny style cusped suspender on miniature). Plate 2 Note: Elborough Martin Woodcock, born 21st January 1837, commissioned as Ensign in the East India Company’s service 4th February 1856, he was posted to the 2nd Bombay European Regiment 15th March 1856, promoted Lieutenant May 23rd 1857. He served during the Persian Expedition 1856-57, and took part in the landing at Hallilah Bay, the attack and capture of Reshire, the surrender of Bushire, the expedition to Borazjnon and the action of Kooshab where he was wounded. On February 18th he joined the Bombay Staff Corps becoming Captain 4.2. 1868; Major 4.2.1876; Lieutenant Colonel 4.2.1882; and Colonel 4.2. 1886. He was placed on the unemployed supernumerary list 4.2.1894; his last employment having been as district superintendent of police at Fyzabad. He died 28th April 1909 aged 72.
