Roman Pyramidal Stone Anchor, Circa 2nd century BCE-1st century AD. 16.85 x 16.85 inches. A large triangular stone with three holes. The top hole was to secure the anchor rope and the two lower holes would have held wooden stakes to penetrate the seabed. Ref: J. A. TÓTH, Composite Stone Anchors in the Ancient Mediterranean. p.87.
