A Chinese 18th or 19th Century cloisonne tianqiuping vase, the rounded body extending to a slender neck entwined with a relief cast dragon detailed in blue and gilt enamels, the turquoise enamelled body further picked out with flowering chrysanthemum borne from leafy tendrils in red, yellow and blue enamels, height 53cm, some damage.
Please note the vase shows some damage to the enamel, these appear to be impact fractures. The enamel appears to have shattered in the areas where the metal has slightly dented. It also appears as if the enamel has been repaired and overpainted in some areas. Noticeable and uniform pitting to the enamel throughout, which is indicative of age. Later drilled to the base, possible repair to the top of the vase, there appear to be a later metal addition to the open mouth of the vase, the rim looks to have been further overpainted.
The entirety of the vase appears to have a yellowed lacquer or shellac to the surface, this appears to be over 50 years old, the varnish has degraded and yellowed over time, with areas flaking away revealing the vibrant blue ground beneath.
