A Record of Discovery and Adventure New edition, two volumes, original green cloth with pictorial gilt decorations, rubbed and bumped, two leaves of MS thought to be by Mrs Raynard, written to the verso of half title and pasted in, although unsigned the handwriting looks a match to examples seen, steel engraving of the educationalist pasted in, textblock loosening from the binding, The fellowship Trust Library label to ffep's, good text blocks, plates by J. W. Whymper, Richard Bentley & Son, London, 1879. (2) Ellen Henrietta Ranyard (née White) (1810–1879) was an English writer, educationalist, missionary, and social reformer who made significant contributions to education and social work in 19th-century London. She is best known for founding the London Bible and Domestic Female Mission in 1857, which sought to improve the lives of impoverished women through religious education and practical assistance (Dudden, 1984).
