Chinese embroidery: An unusual 19th century, Qing Dynasty, silk panel in three sections, plus a border, each vertical panel with a different embroidery, all three featuring butterflies, the two outer panels with the same design of a large urn containing flowers and leaves, flanked by household objects and perhaps a fan, the central panel with a blossoming tree, all worked in silks and couched gold thread, the horizontal panel in similar colours with larger floral motifs, provenance on the back claiming the panel to be a section of a larger, early bedcover, with two previous owners, one in 1989 and one, by descent, who was given the panel in 1926, approx. 71 cm by 40 cm including the frame
