A fine quality Chinese famille rose porcelain 'Boys' plaque, Guangxu six character mark lower left, but probably Republic period (1912-1949), finely painted and anemelled with five boys playing in a garden between bamboo, peonies and other flowering plants, the foreground with a small pond with two fish, three hens and flanked by two rocky outcrops with two perched cockerels and three hens, 9½ x 14½in. (24.1 x 36.8cm.), within a carved hardwood frame with lotus scroll on diaper ground, the reverse with a floral carved panel. The plaque has not been examined out of the frame, but there are no visible faults, such as chips, cracks or other damage - it appears to be in very good condition. There is a small line through the right hand painted ground/grass beneath the right hand rockwork, but this appears to be a tiny flaw from when the plaque was fired, as are two paler patches to the other ground/grass to the left of this. There is also a tiny loss from the grass leaf to the very far left below the reign mark. No other faults. The frame is also in good condition. The paler hardwood back panel does have a split to the left hand side.
