A very fine rare watercolour by Fall of Bone's miniature after John Hoppner of Horatio Nelson, 3½" x 2¾" half length, wearing full dress with Order of the Bath sash and other decorations. In its original plum velvet covered frame with gilt oval inset. Taped linen flap on reverse for table standing, the bottom edge impressed in small gilt letters Fall 9 Baker Street. The portrait is VGC with vivid colour, the rounded oval frame is devoid of all velvet. Note: according to Richard Walker's book on "The Nelson Portaits", published in 1998, there is known an enamel copy made for the Nelson Ward family by Fall, it is now in the Portsmouth Victory Museum and is illustrated on page 247 of "The Nelson Portraits". £100-200
