£250
An early 19c eight day longcase clock by J. Fubister of Edinburgh, the 34cm diam. circular brass dial having moon phase, seconds, date and day of the week indicators, and Roman numerals with moon hands. The movement has anchor escapement and is rack striking on a bell. It is contained in a round top mahogany case, the hood having a brass bezel and being surmounted by a central eagle and ball finial and cresting either side. The trunk has a door with a fixed panel below and is flanked by fluted quarter columns. The base has an inset rectangular panel and a small stepped skirting plinth. The clock is 224cm h.
The dial is now brass and needs cleaning and re-silvering and the moon phase dial reprinting. The movement seems complete but would benefit from cleaning. The case body is in good condition but the hood needs the finial and cresting replacing (now detached) and some work done to fit the brass bezel properly.
