Born in Nagoya, Japan, Sherwin was educated in Tokyo before undertaking postgraduate studies at Harvard University. Since then, her artwork has been displayed at eight shows of her own, as well as other group exhibitions. Sherwin was the winner of the 1984 New Jersey Art Association Show, the 1985 Princeton Art Association Show and is a member of the American Watercolour Society. She is also a prolifically published writer.
