Distinguished Conduct Medal GV named (14925 Cpl H C Wale 8/Suffolk Rgt). With postcard photo, cap badge, and a very poor condition water damaged diary. DCM L/G 4/3/1918 (Stoke) "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in Command of an advanced post close to an Enemy strong point, on two occasions his post was attacked, and when the Enemy gained a footing in it he at once led an attack and recaptured it. His determination and contempt of danger under most difficult conditions were worthy of the highest praise". DCM awarded for the gallant defence of an advanced post over 3 days at Poelcapelle, during the 3rd Battle of Ypres on 12th to 14th October 1917.
