A GEORGE III LEATHER WRITING OR NECESSAIRE BOX BY WILLIAM CHAPPLE SNR, CIRCA 1780-1800 Red morocco leather bound, plaque to the tapering lid inscribed Miss A Scott, interior with paper maker's label: William Chappel, Late Garnons, Trunk, Case & Box Maker. 49 Corner of St Paul's Church Yard facing Cheapside, Trunks, chests &c for the East and West India Trade 25.2cm wide, 11.5cm high, 17.5cm deep This particular label denoting the address at 49 corresponds exactly with the label to be found on George Washington's Camp Chest from 1783 by the same maker, held in the Henry Ford Museum, Dearbourn Michigan (Object ID 29.483.4).
