An unusual mid-17th century oak open armchair, English, possibly Devon

Having an open back with solid-shaped central splat, between leafy S-scroll carved back uprights, with urn-turned finials, the downswept open arms with dog-tooth style incised carving, on baluster-turned front supports, one-piece trapezium seat board, wrapped around the arm supports, run-moulded and bicuspid shaped seat rails, on rising-baluster turned front legs, joined all round by plain stretchers, height 109cm, width 52cm, height of seat 51.5cm
