A Japanese silvered bronze okimono of an owl, Meiji period (1868-1912), the silvered owl with inset glass eyes and with wings spread, perched on the branch of an ancient, gnarled maple tree, with dark brown patination, some of the maple leaves highlighted in dark red-brown, the base and owl signed, 19½in. (49.5cm.) high.

* Condition: Surface dirt and dust throughout. The silvering to owl quite heavily worn across the figure. Flaking to the black paint to the back of the eyes. Two or three tips of the maple leaves are bent, but none are missing.
