1898 Queen's Sudan Medal to 2659 Gr W. Hancock R.A., 1899 QSA 3 clasps Cape Colony, OFS, Transvaal to 2659 Br W. Hancock 4th Bty R.F.A., 1902 KSA both clasps to 2659 Bomb W. Hancock R.F.A. and 1898 Khedive's Sudan Medal no clasp to 2659 Gr W. Hancock 32 F.B. R.A., contact marks to some edges, nearly very fine or better, mounted on card for display. With 6 copied pages of service record and casualty list, William Hancock was born in Clapham, attested 14/2/94, posted to 32 Bty 23/2/95, served Egypt Feb 1895 to Nov 1898, posted to 4th Fd Bty 17/3/99, served South Africa 15/11/99 to 5/6/02, was dangerously wounded by a gunshot to the stomach 11/3/02 during the action at De Klipdrift. Some 2,000 Boers under De La Rey attacked the rearguard of a large column under Methuen, with the British suffering 68 KIA, 132 wounded and some 600 taken POW. He was discharged 13/2/06.
