WW1 Meritorious Service Medal to H-270499 Far Q.M. Sjt H.A. Forster 1/North'd Yeo some attempted erasure of large part of naming and possibly some re-tooling, all details clearly legible, otherwise good very fine. George Alexander Forster's MSM was announced in the London Gazette dated 3rd June 1919. With rare citation from MSM book "This old regular NCO has done most meritorious service throughout the campaign. Having 31 years service, practically unbroken, he has rarely been away from duty during the war. Many times has been obliged to work under great difficulties and danger, and in a special instance out of many similar ones, was the devotion to duty showed during a period of heavy shelling on October 24th in the vicinity of Le Cateau when the Regt was working on the XIII Corps Front."
With good range of copied research including service papers, MIC, MSM card, rolls etc, 1 of only 5 MSMs to the regiment.
He was born in Alnwick, enlisted in 4th Hussars 6/7/91, discharged 5/2/12, re-joined 1st Northumbrian Bde RFA 29/2/12, posted 2.1 North'd Hussars 26/10/14, promoted Farrier Qm Sgt and landed France 7/1/15, discharged 14/8/19. Ex DNW June 2002. (See photo) (R)
