1793-1814 MGSM 8 clasps Talavera, Busaco, Albuhera, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse to J. Partington 48th Foot heavy edge bruising, light scratching in fields, nearly very fine. With large quantity of copied research and photo of the church where he is buried, Josiah Partington was born in Middleton in 1789, enlisted 3/9/1803, landed in Portugal 25/3/09, was wounded in both legs at the Battle of Albuhera 16/5/11, where the Bn suffered 422 casualties. In July 1813 he returned to the Peninsula, promoted Sgt 24/9/13, wounded in the hand at the Battle of Nivelle, 10/11/13. He was discharged 3/11/14, and employed as a silk weaver, died 20/7/72.
