A RARE SET OF CHINESE PAINTED POTTERY ZODIAC FIGURES WITH OXFORD TL TEST, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644). A complete set of twelve made from reddish pottery cold painted in various coloured pigments. Each figure wearing the robes and headgear of an official holding one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. Heights 19 - 19.5cm (12).

One of the figures comes with an Oxford TL test confirming the period of manufacture. Sample no. C124j20.

More Information

No signs of obvious damage. No signs of repairs. Surface wear as expected. One figures has a shallow chip to front right of hat, but not too significant. The figure which has been TL tested has a sample drill hole in the base rim and back of left sleeve.
