*Given to Bernie by a Gibson rep whilst on tour in Japan in 1980, this guitar features on page 247 of Bernie's book 'Tales of Tone and Volume' where he recounts the story: 'I had never played the guitar until that night's gig in Tokyo. Barry (Bernie's tech) set it up, restrung the shiny V II and promised the rep I would use it that night. I used it that night for an instrumental song. Barry passed the guitar to me - three thousand people watching and he forgot to switch my Marshall back on, or so I thought - I was gesturing and shouting for him to turn the bloody amp on, but it was on - the stylish boomerang shaped V pickups had almost zero output compared with The Beast'
