South Irish Horse, Army Military Pioneer Corps Officer's Attributed Tunic Uniform Jacket. This tunic was worn by Captain J Sharp who served with the South Irish Horse during the Great War and as a Reserve Officer served with the newly formed Army Military Pioneer Corps from 1940 to 1945. The service dress tunic is tailored with a ticket pocket and fitted with South Irish Horse buttons (1 large and 1 small absent). To the shoulder straps, Captain rank stars, and medal ribbons of a 1914/15 Star Trio and Special Constabulary medal. The interior pocket with a tailors label of F.A. Stone and Sons London. Ink name Lieut. J Sharp A.M.P.C 2740. Scattered moth, Collar Badges absent. Captain John Sharp served in the ranks of the Gloucestershire Hussars, before he was commissioned into the South Irish Horse on the 21st December 1916. He saw overseas service from April 1915 and is noted as being attached to the RFC / RAF In 1940 serving on the Officer Reserve List he was granted a commission in the Army Military Pioneer Corps, later Army Pioneer Corps in May 1940 in the 1945 Army list is shown as a Captain.
