Gay’s SHEPHERD’S week, a printed fan c 1790’s, with six oval vignettes for the days Monday to Saturday with headings, and names beneath, the ovals with different figures, and verses printed in a band below (a text of the full poem accompanies the fan), published by the proprietor June 179-, simple light wood sticks, guard approx. 25cm, purchased in 2006 at the Christie’s sale of the Paul Van Saanen collection of fans, lot 151. In the Schreiber collection, unmounted fan leaves Division VII, described as “The Shepherd’s Week by Gay”
Used but in good order with a few period repairs.
