Dutch Zansee wall clock made by Wuba - mechanical chiming clock - good condition
This is a vintage Dutch Zaanse wall clock dating from the 1950s, and was made by Wuba.
The clock chimes on the half and full hour (gong sound). It’s weight-driven by two brass pear shaped weights. The pendulum is topped off with a painted brass horseman. At the top is the Dutch saying: "Nu Elk Syn Sin" which means "To
Each His Own" or "Every Man to His Own Taste". This is a reference to the freedom of
religion after the Dutch rebelled successfully against the Spaniards.
The height of the clock is c. 50 cm and the width is 20 cm.
This style of clock was produced between 1950 and 1960 in Almelo, in the
Netherlands. The company set up a factory in 1929 producing the best quality clocks. However, after 75 years in business employing craftsmanship dating back to the 17th century, the Warmink family closed the doors of their company forever. So the clocks that exist today will not be manufactured again.
