The Rolls-Royce 20/25 was built between 1929 and 1936, and was intended to appeal to owner drivers. The 6-cylinder ohv engine was now 3669 cc. A single carburettor was used, and both coil and magneto ignition were fitted. The four-speed gearbox was mounted in unit with the engine and a right-hand change used. Synchromesh was fitted to third and top gears from 1932. The chassis had rigid front and rear axles suspended by half-elliptic springs with braking on all four wheels with a mechanical servo. The famous Rolls-Royce radiator with triangular top was used with vertical louvres, the angle of which could be adjusted to control engine cooling. The radiator shutters were operated manually from the dash, and later cars were fitted with automatic control via a thermostat. The larger engine increased the top speed to 75 mph. Only the chassis and mechanical parts were made by Rolls-Royce. The body was made and fitted by a coachbuilder selected by the owner.
Presented in Black over Ivory. Green leather interior with Firestone white wall tyres. Registered in 1936 this Barker bodied Sports Saloon has only had 4 former keepers, the current owner since 2009 and previous since 1984. The first owner being the highly decorated Lt Colonel Boyd of Cranleigh, Surrey. The car has spent the majority of its life in the South of England.
A very attractive car that certainly turns heads, not concours but in remarkably good condition overall and drives totally without fault. The current owner has only done routine maintenance in 11 years with no major issues and has, to quote Rolls Royce never 'failed to proceed' A new 12 month MOT certificate will be supplied prior to sale.
Having realised how few miles travelled in the last year the owner has decided it needs somebody with more spare time to enjoy this wonderful motor car.
