A very poignant post-war letter written by Captain Harry "Wings" Day (Together with Roger Bushell, he planned and organised the "Great Escape"), the Senior British Officer (S.B.O.) on the Great Escape from Stalag Luft III, written to the tunneler Flight Lieutenant Wally Flood.
The letter contains information of the death of Colonel 'Johnnie Dodge' who had been part of the team and on recapture from the escape attempt was sent to Sachenhausen Concentration Camp where he again tunneled to freedom.
Johnnie died, aged 66, of a heart attack when hailing a taxi near Hyde Park in London in November 1960.
