A GERMAN MANUFACTURED TURKISH M1918 STEEL HELMET. The helmet with twin lugs and folded rim, the front slightly higher than on German examples. Painted in a camouflage pattern with an 'R' in a circle to the right, possibly a German Friekorps badge, with a bullet hole, entering to the right below the lug and a larger exit hole to the right. 22cm wide, 17cm high, 27cm front to back.
It is possible that the slightly higher brim is to allow Turkish Muslim soldiers to bow their heads to the ground whilst praying. *CR Liner lacking. In 'As found' condition with light surface rust and degraded surface.
